Blasten!! Blasts onto Steam January 8 — Foul-Mouthed and Ready to R*ck

Independent studio TriPaw Games today announced that Blasten!!, a retro 2D action platformer paying homage to the side-scrolling robot shooters of the 1980s, launches on Steam for PC and Mac on January 8, 2026.

Blasten!! is built for players who revel in classic 80s gaming, backed by a tasty chiptune soundtrack. Players take control of Blasten, an ultra-advanced battle bot with a strong sense of right and wrong. When the nefarious Dr. Kraven hijacks the world’s robots and threatens a hundred of years of peace, it’s up to you to blast through hazardous levels, take down crazed battle robots, and restore order to the world. Or not, you do you.

With tight controls, beautiful pixel art, and an evolving weapons system, Blasten!! delivers everything fans of classic 2D action platformers are looking for, plus a problematic dose of irreverent humor.

Key Features

  • A love letter to the classics: A sweat-soaked tribute to 80s-era side-scrolling robot shooters, built by people who love them.
  • Evolving weapons and perks system: Power up and customize your playstyle.
  • Challenging platformer levels: Test your skills against hazardous stages and formidable foes.
  • Unique robot bosses and sub-bosses: Each with their own patterns to master.
  • Beautiful sprite animations and background art: Retro aesthetics that sing.
  • No disappearing/reappearing blocks: You’re welcome.
  • Cursing: Because sometimes robots need to express themselves.

“We made Blasten!! for everyone who grew up with a controller in their hands, cursing at their TV while trying to beat that one impossible boss,” said Jesse McCann, Game Director at TriPaw Games, apocryphally. “This is our love letter to those games — the ones that made you sweat, made you swear, and made you come back for more.”
