Developer FakeFish and publisher Shiro Unlimited, today reveal an all-new look at the tense gameplay of Frostrail, the ruthless survival first-person shooter, during IGN’s Fan Fest event.
Venture into a once-mighty empire now entombed in relentless frost after a cataclysmic pact with the Void shattered the world. Board a steam-powered train, your only refuge against sub-zero temperatures, blinding blizzards, and relentless Revenants stalking the ruins. To keep the train moving, scavenge precious resources and rare materials from underground dungeons and desolate, ice-bound settlements.
Ride the rails alone or band together in online co-op. Craft weapons and equipment from salvage scraps and remain vigilant, the roar of your engine draws deadly Revenants from the frozen wilds. Engage in brutal FPS combat as you scavenge, fight, and push ever forward, surviving one desperate encounter at a time.
Follow the tracks ever deeper into the wasteland and transform your train into a true mobile fortress. Add new carriages, crafting stations, and defensive structures while fueling and managing the steam engine to withstand Revenants and relentless blizzards alike. Do whatever it takes to ensure, or be claimed by the frost.
“Since revealing Frostrail last year, we’ve pushed every aspect of the game further,” said Ez Jämsen, Lead Designer at FakeFish. “This trailer highlights the core loop of scavenging, brutal combat, and upgrading your train, along with a stronger, more refined art direction featuring new environments and weapon models that deepen the atmosphere of desolation. Survival won’t come easy when Frostrail launches in Early Access later this year.“
Frostrail will launch on Steam Early Access for Windows PC in 2026 with English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Polish, Portuguese – Brazil, and Simplified Chinese language support.
