Indie developer Heavy Pepper has announced Mine or Burn, an upcoming sci-fi incremental game where players pilot a lone mining ship traveling from one star system to the next.
Each area offers only a limited window to mine asteroids, gather fuel, and upgrade the ship before rival miners arrive. Players must balance extracting valuable resources with leaving in time to jump safely to the next system.
If players fail to escape in time, encounters with rival miners are resolved automatically based on the ship’s strength. Defeat does not halt progress; instead, it feeds into persistent upgrade systems that allow players to return stronger on the next expedition.
Over successive runs, players increase mining output, unlock automation, and expand their ship’s capabilities. What begins as a fragile operation gradually evolves into a powerful mining system capable of sustaining longer expeditions and surviving tougher challenges.
Key Features
- Incremental asteroid mining focused on efficiency and scaling output.
- Sector-based progression driven by fuel collection and jump timing.
- Persistent ship upgrades and automation systems that carry across runs.
- Automated encounters with rival miners that test ship upgrades.
- Runs that grow from fragile beginnings into highly optimized operations.
Mine or Burn is currently in development for Windows PC. Players can wishlist the game on Steam to follow development, with a demo planned in the coming weeks.
