In it, you follow a young girl called Mai on her journey back home. You will be progressing through the game by solving various puzzles and overcoming your enemies in plenty of minigames that are available throughout the title. You will also be making friends and, of course, foes by talking to different animals.
Apopia: Sugar Coated Tale is, at its core, a narrative adventure that you had no idea you had to play. At first sight, it seems like a cute and nice story set in a fairytale world with its welcoming characters, but the more you play it, the more you realise that something dark lurks around – the game is very emotional and mature, which was somewhat surprising because of the way the game is presented. Jolly worlds and happy colours are not the only thing Apopia will deliver, but its great art style is one of the things you will notice first while playing it. It does look like a happy fairytale book that became alive and became vivid through being portrayed in a video game. But the more time you stay in this world, the more you will notice that it might not be a fairytale at all. Darkness lives under the surface of a happy world, and you will begin noticing that sooner than later through the magnificent visual storytelling that will hint at something that is not right. Definitely a contrast of what the game looks like when it is set out in the beginning, and definitely something that will keep you on your toes and wanting to play more.
