Grind Survivors is a great but also pretty repetitive action roguelike game that will keep you on it for hours, even though there is plenty of grinding with little to no story to tell – just grind, grind, and survive for as long as you can. It is yet another survivors-style game that looks awesome, plays well as well, but there’s nothing deep next to its gameplay loop. It was developed by Pushka Studios and published by Assemble Entertainment on the 16th of March 2026. It is available through the PlayStation Store for Sony’s PlayStation 5 console, and it will cost you 14,99 EUR.
It is a top-down action roguelike shooter in which you take on the role of a demon hunter. Your calling is to survive endless waves of hellspawn enemies in a well-made post-apocalyptic world. You will face plenty of different demons and weapons in this game of incremental progression. There is really not a lot of narrative going on, just a good old addictive gameplay loop of surviving for twenty minutes, levelling up and choosing upgrades, dying and repeating the whole damn thing once again. And again, and again. This is Grind Survivors’ biggest strength as it is very fast and satisfying, but also somewhat boring and repetitive, as there is no deep story going on to surround the brutal gameplay. A shame? Maybe. But if you are into non-stop action demon-killing games, this one will be right up your alley.
As far as the gameplay goes, Grind Survivors is a very fluid and responsive experience, so your character’s movement and everything else that goes with it will feel great. The combat literally brings chaos to your screen, but that is just one of the game’s biggest pros in my humble opinion. Hordes of enemies, brutal explosions, and constant pressure are what most gamers love in survivors-like games, and this one is packed with those. Even though it is chaotic, it is visually nonetheless clear, and your screen does not get filled with useless clutter. And I cannot stress this enough – the controls are tight as hell, so kudos to the developers!
There are plenty of basic weapons to pick up during each of your sessions, and you can mould them into more powerful killing machines by progressing through the game. You have to prepare yourself that you will be replaying levels a lot, but I did not find that taxing at all, as I enjoy both Grind Survivors’ gameplay and its visual output as well. I cannot say that it is the best game of the genre, though, but it has some lasting appeal that will not let you drop it very quickly. As with all of these types of games, you will come back for another session after another, so your time spent with it will rapidly rise to a handful of hours.
Grind Survivors is definitely a very stylized title that is very addictive, even though it will not hold you in its paws because of its story. It will not let you go because of its tight gameplay and visual chaos that will simply grow on you. I definitely recommend it to all survivors-freaks out there, as it is yet another of that type of game that plays more or less flawlessly and looks brutal at it. Hours of fun await, so make sure you grab it if you are into action roguelikes!
