Swiss indie studio Bestioles Games is thrilled to announce that the Steam page for their debut title, It All Began With a Bug, is now live.
It All Began With a Bug is a short narrative adventure game framed as a nature documentary. Players embody a diverse cast of insects, each with their own story, abilities, and challenges, as they navigate a mysterious tower rising above the ocean, in the spaces humanity has abandoned… or is about to.
A narrator guides you through these intimate stories, observing your actions with curiosity and poetry. While their voice documents insect lives with scientific care, the tower itself tells a second, quieter story.
Each of the game’s 20+ playable sequences introduces mechanics tailored to the biology and behavior of its featured insect, from rhythm-based spider courtship dances to strategic dung-rolling. Accessible one-button controls evolve with each species, keeping the experience fresh and surprising from start to finish. Wrapped in a vintage documentary aesthetic, the world comes to life through rich, atmospheric environments and a narrator who reacts to the player’s actions. Beneath it all, a deeper story is woven into the tower itself, blending intimate insect struggles with glimpses of something far greater.
